The Hengeyokai and other Characters

Recently, I was asked to design/update, some creatures for D&D called Hengeyokai.  The particular ones I worked on took the form of a Badger and Hare.  I also did some small illustrations showcasing these characters in October's issue of Dragon Magazine (404).

This brings me to some other characters I have worked on for D&D over the past year or so.  Jon Schindehette has put me to the task of creating a number of heroes the latest D&D Character Option books.  You have probably seen some of these guys popping up in the D&D products and if you are illustrating for D&D then you have probably received them as reference.  So I thought I would share them all.  Here are a few from the Feywild as well as some Elemental Characters

Many more to come at a later date....

  4. The personality that comes through with the various character designs is great, and I love the faces of the samurai in 'Hare'.

  6. As always, incredible work man. Love the Rabbit and the Hare. It was really fun (and an honor) getting a couple of your characters for reference on my last gig for WotC. I hope to see many more of your references in the future... at least then I'll have a valid excuse for stealing from you :).

  8. Dude, there's something wrong with the badger chick... aren't they supposed to have six boobs?? =P

As for the character designs, I told you aready - they are simply fantastic! When I got them as a reference for the Feywild art, I was fascinated and wondered who did those pieces. Well, now I know - and by knowing that, not a big surprise. You're damn talented!

  10. Thanks everyone! And yes Eva, I had actually originally designed her with 6 boobs, might have been 8, but I thought Wizards might not dig that. So I toned it down. They are supposed to be Human animal hybrids so I went to the human side for boobage, haha.

  12. I always love seeing what people come up with as arrangements for that long vertical template Wizards has. Awesome. I freakin' love the character designs across the board. I've received a couple of these as reference too, and wondered who designed them. Always nice to get reference that's actually inspiring. Nice work man!

  13. Tell me about it Adam. Every single time I get one, I say, wow that is narrow and tall. How I am going to deal with this. It always looks fatter once I start getting stuff in the frame. Always a challenge.
