Blitz'gor Fizzlebak

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posting lately.. I've been busy with a lot of projects that I can't really go into and nothing I've done in the past 4-6 months is allowed to be shown quite yet, so I managed to squeeze a personal piece into my schedule! Originally it started out as a demo for the illustration course I teach at a near by community college, however I was so excited by the development, I decided to take it to a finish.  Many of you know by now how much I love Blizzard Entertainment, so my personal pieces tend to be card samples and other Blizzard inspired illustrations.  This piece is no different :)

I try to keep up with the expansions and create work that's relevant to where their games currently are, specifically Warcraft.  This is a Goblin Elemental Shaman wearing the Tier 13 Shaman Armor set. Hope you guys dig it.

  1. I do have to ask, did you specifically pick the Firelands as a background due to the contrast with the goblin's skin and colour of the lightning or was it due to personal preference over the place?

  2. Bastian-

It was a bit of both. Originally this piece started out as a demo for an illustration course I teach and I was showing my students about color use and reference when working on a piece. This one in particular I wanted to choose some of the more iconic elements associated with Cataclysm as far as location so I just went with the Firelands because of it's distinct environment and notable structures. My other color choices were made based off of those initial decisions in the rough color comp and sketch phase and this is what worked the best in terms of making the figure pop forward. Good question though, thanks for chiming in :)

  4. Nice work, Eric! I've been slammed and haven't been commenting like I should lately. Nice to see a personal piece get done. I feel like so many of us never have time for them anymore. . .

  5. Thanks, Adam! I appreciate the comment, man. It'll probably be the only personal piece I'm able to get done all summer haha
