Second Crusade, a piece I did for Sony Online Entertainment, will be in the upcoming Exotique 7. This is the first time I've been featured in an art compilation book, and it was an honor to be selected. It was also used as a side bar illustration in "Changing the Rules of the Game"- Nov 2011 ImagineFX.
My defiant little redhead is all grown up, and off in the big world alone *sniff* :)
Congrats Craig!
ReplyDeleteI love this piece, her pose is great.
Great job, and with a tough angle, too.
ReplyDeleteI know the focus is on the girl, but it's the restrained way the dead knights are handled that impresses me most.
yeah, what Sam said. i actually really love the dead knights. i think illustrators are more likely to notice and fall in love with things like this. :) things the creator of the piece intentionally meant *not* to be the focus. :)
ReplyDeletethey are handled great.
Beautiful, Craig !!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the press as well !!
Well deserved.. =)
This piece is powerful, man! I absolutely love the lighting going on in it. Congratulations on Exotique 7! It's so cool to see a piece getting used in so many different areas. Thanks for posting the news :)
ReplyDeleteThanks all! In the rough sketch the dead knights were really bloody, but it detracted from the girl too much. Ironic that this image ended up in a book and a magazine, as it was a rush job and there wasn't much time for the finish. It's a reminder for me to stop overworking things so much :).
ReplyDeleteCongrats again on both publications, man. I'll be excited to see our stuff in the same book in Exotique 7 :)
ReplyDeleteGreat piece Craig! I really want to know who's casting that shadow :)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! In hindsight, I probably should have made the unseen adversary's shadow a lot larger, casting across more of the girl. It's a bit too subtle, and gets kinda lost mixing with her shadow.
